Sustainability for us as a company isn’t a term bandied around to make us feel good, it is a central focus.  Perhaps the difference in our approach is that we pride ourselves on being as realistic and practical as we can. Of course, as part of your brand image and persona, there will be very good reasons you desire a particular look.

When you decide on the type of packaging you wish to employ there are always pros and cons. Take compostable for example. Consider how the product is produced, the short (by definition) lifecycle and the problems that any sort of disruption to the supply chain can cause (Covid / War / Natural disaster). Also consider that if the product ends up in landfill, where, deprived of oxygen, they may release methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide*

Our soft packaging is plastic.  And yes it lasts. It also offers fantastic cost benefits in terms of product security and practicality. It is also the only product able to be 100% recycled in NZ, with the resultant product in high demand and growing.  It might be only a single use product as a stand-up pouch but, if treated properly, it has a very productive second life.

You know your brand and what you want.  Our job at Sherborne is not to tell you what you should use but to completely advise you and give you the ability to make a fully informed packaging choice.

The Soft Plastic Recycling Scheme is part of The Packaging Forum family which invests in and promotes recycling solutions, so you can help keep New Zealand green and clean. The project takes all soft plastic bags including:

  • bread bags

  • frozen food bags toilet paper packaging

  • confectionery and biscuit wrap

  • chip bags

  • pasta and rice bags

  • courier envelopes

  • shopping bags

  • sanitary hygiene packaging

  • basically anything made of plastic which can be scrunched into a ball.

Ensure that these bags are clean and dry before bringing them to a collection site. Soft plastic collections are available at selected Countdown, The Warehouse, New World, Pak'nSave stores and other locations in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Christchurch, Northland, Waikato, Taranaki and Wellington regions.

Helping our ecosystem and its biodiversity thrive!

Good Nature are doing their part to humanely eliminate invasive species to New Zealand.

They have developed a toxin-free trap which have been proven to work anywhere rodents roam - garage, attic, kitchen, backyard, barn or farm. It's even used in some of the world’s most fragile ecosystems to kill rodents and protect critically endangered species.

Product Stewardship

“Providers using terms like ethical and responsible to describe their products must ensure there is cohesive substance in how they design such products, how they market and advertise them and, most important, how they manage them.”
